01Agreement to these terms#

These terms are a binding agreement between you and HackSprint. They cover the website, the hosted IDE, hackathon participation, organization workspaces, the course library, and the job portal, together the “Platform”.

By creating an account or entering a hackathon you accept these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of an employer or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

02Accounts and eligibility#

·You must be at least 16, or the minimum digital-consent age where you live, whichever is higher.

·One account per person. Shared logins and duplicate accounts used to enter the same hackathon twice are prohibited.

·You are responsible for everything done under your account, including keeping your credentials and any connected sign-in provider secure.

·Information you give us, such as your name, email, skills, and employment history, must be accurate and kept current.

03Hackathons and competition#

Each hackathon is published by an organizer with its own brief, rules, timing, eligibility, and scoring method. Those event rules sit on top of these terms. Where an event rule is stricter, the stricter rule applies.

·Submissions must be your own work, produced inside the event window unless the organizer says otherwise.

·Where a hackathon runs multiple language tracks, you may enter one track only. Entering more than one disqualifies every submission you made.

·Scoring combines automated grading against hidden tests with organizer review. Organizers own the final result.

·Prizes are funded and awarded by the organizer, not by HackSprint. Tax and eligibility for a prize are between you and that organizer.

·We may remove a submission that breaks an event rule, infringes a third party, or fails an integrity check.

04Your content and intellectual property#

You keep ownership of everything you write, upload, or submit, including code, project descriptions, media, and profile content.

You grant HackSprint a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that content strictly to operate the Platform: running your workspace, grading a submission, showing it to the organizer and judges of the event you entered, and displaying it on your profile where you have chosen to publish it. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies kept in backups or required for an ongoing dispute.

Entering a hackathon does not transfer your IP to the organizer. Some organizers ask for extra rights, such as a licence to demo a winning project. Where they do, it is stated in that event’s rules before you register, and registering is how you accept it.

AI-assisted work

HackSprint provides an AI coding agent inside the IDE. Output it produces at your prompting is treated as your submission content, and you are responsible for it, including making sure you are allowed to use it under the event’s rules.

05Acceptable use#

Do not:

·Submit work you did not create, or pass off another person as yourself.

·Attempt to read hidden test cases, grading internals, another participant’s workspace, or unpublished results.

·Probe or attack the Platform, or use a workspace to attack anything else, to mine cryptocurrency, or to host workloads unrelated to a challenge.

·Circumvent proctoring, rate limits, or track restrictions.

·Post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or infringing. The Code of Conduct covers behaviour in more detail.

06Proctoring and monitoring#

Organizers can require proctoring for timed challenges. Where they do, you are shown exactly what will be monitored and must consent before the session starts. Consent is per session. Declining means you cannot take that proctored challenge, and nothing else.

Proctoring can capture camera and screen activity, focus and tab events, and identity checks against a baseline image. Evidence is visible to that event’s organizer and reviewers, every view is logged, and it is deleted automatically at the end of the retention window set for the event. 07Paid plans and billing#

·Paid plans renew automatically for the period you chose until cancelled.

·Cancelling stops the next renewal. The current period is not refunded except where the law requires it.

·Fees exclude tax unless stated. You are responsible for any applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST.

·We give at least 30 days notice of a price change before it affects your renewal.

·Failed payment can suspend access to paid features. Your data is retained through any grace period shown in your billing settings.

08Organization workspaces#

An organization workspace is controlled by its owner and admins. If you join one, they can see your activity inside it, manage your membership, and export workspace data. Organizations are responsible for their own events, for the participant data those events generate, and for having a lawful basis to process it.

An organization using HackSprint to process personal data of people in the EEA or UK acts as controller for that data, and we act as processor under our data processing terms. Request those terms through the contact form.

09Suspension and termination#

You may delete your account at any time from settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these terms, break an event rule, or create legal or security risk for the Platform or other users, with notice where practical and immediately where the risk is serious.

On termination your right to use the Platform stops. Verified results already published on a leaderboard may remain, in anonymised form where we can.

10Disclaimers and limitation of liability#

The Platform is provided as is. We do not warrant that grading, matching, proctoring signals, or AI output are error free, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Proctoring signals are indicators for a human reviewer, not proof of misconduct.

To the extent the law allows, HackSprint is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or the minimum amount permitted by law. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11Changes to these terms#

We may update these terms. For material changes we give at least 30 days notice by email or an in-product notice before they take effect. Continuing to use the Platform after that date means you accept the update.
